PhotoSynthesis is Ames' only locally-owned and locally-managed full-service digital photo lab. At PhotoSynthesis in Ames, we are a group of artists, photographers, and designers committed to producing the best images possible for you from the digital files and film you provide.
When you print your digital photos at PhotoSynthesis in Ames, you can pick them up in-store or have them shipped to your door via US mail. Your digital print order will be printed on our professional photo printer using archival quality dye inks & paper. Plus, our trained photo experts check each file for density and color. We don't take shortcuts. This ensures you the best printing possible! You can trust your memories to PhotoSynthesis.
Come in & use our photo kiosks to place your order! Use the kiosks to crop, change colors, order regular size prints or enlargements, or add text. You can also design photo cards, folded cards, books, calendars, collages & more. We can also burn your images to CD. Simply bring in your media (CD, jump drive, camera card, etc) and we can show you how easy it is to use our in-store kiosks to order high-quality printing, photo announcements, & more!
We offer a complete line of exclusive photo cards for all occasions. Photo birth announcements, photo adoption announcements, moving, birthday, graduation, holiday...you get the idea! If you'd like to try designing a card yourself, try our fun online designer! You can choose a starting point card, then 'customize' it by adding or deleting photos, moving/deleting/adding words, adding provided clipart and more!

We off you GLOSSY or LUSTRE finishes. We check each file for color & density and adjust as needed. If you'd like to see how our machine prints your files based on what you see on your monitor, we suggest trying a $0.29 4x6 proof before printing larger sizes to ensure your file is adjusted as you'd like it to be. Make sure to tell us 'no adjustments' so you get a true representation of how a file seen on your monitor prints here in our lab.
White borders on request. 3-hour turnaround M-F; orders placed after 1:30 on Friday Saturday are ready Monday at noon. We do print most Saturdays, but at times may not, so call if you need your order on a Saturday to make sure it can be ready for you.

PhotoSynthesis’ exclusive line of photo announcements can be purchased in-store. Minimum order is 25 cards*. Provide your favorite photo/s and we will professionally enhance your photo for no charge and create your card from the design you choose. We have designs for every occasion, and if you don’t see something you like, we will create a new design!
